We are excited to bring you the specially crafted color of Alainn Yarns. Stephanie didn’t have the crafting trail that many of us did. She did not grow up watching parents and grandparents craft. She taught herself cross stitch and continued on that journey for years. When her husband was stationed in Japan in 2010 she told her mother-in-law she was bored and cross stitch wasn’t filling the time. She sent her a package of yarn, needles and the Stitch ‘n Bitch book. Stephanie took on the challenge and many YouTube videos and taught herself to knit. She likes to select new projects that will teach her a new skill and that has allowed her to expand her knitting one project at a time.
As many do, Stephanie started playing with dyeing via Kool-aid. She loved the results and jumped right in to acid dyes and the adventure began. Stephanie is an avid traveler and loves to take pictures to capture the moment on her adventures. After a trip to Ireland she couldn’t find the color to capture what she saw on her trip. She went to work to dye yarn of her color memories and used her pictures as a reference. This continues to be her inspiration, but that trip to Ireland gave her the inspiration for her business name as well. Alainn means “Beautiful” in Irish. It is pronounced all-in which is what Stephanie is, on her fiber adventure.
On the website you can see Stephanie’s yarn color inspirational photos as well as the story behind the color. It is an adventure to shop all the beauty and inspire your next knitting project. Stephanie doesn’t stop at making special color. She also curates great fiber blends to use in her yarns. This gives you endless fiber and color options to inspire and feature in your knitting projects.
