What a great program we had this month with Jamie Lomax of Pacific Knits. Her enthusiasm surely made me want to start doodling and creating my own design. I’m sure all of us have used stitch dictionaries to make different designs, but having the master pattern and a template to create really allows anyone to create. It sounds like she will be releasing more and more Doodle themes in the future. Knowing that she has taken her new love and knitting and turned it into a business for her family is inspiring.
Jamie enjoyed her time with us and wanted to share all of the ways that you can kick off your Doodle adventure:
FREE DOODLE PATTERN CODE is on the Member dashboard as well as a link to the Free Doodle WorkbookResources below if you’d like to learn more about anything we talked about during the Guild meeting.
How to Doodle with Yarn: Overview of the Doodle Framework to design and knit your custom colorwork. Use this framework to knit patterns again and again, because it’s different every time! Free Base Doodle Patterns: We just launched a free version of a few of our top Base Doodle Patterns –Infinity Cowl, Standard Cowl, Beanie, andCup Cozy– so head to our blog to check them out. Looking for another shape, you can shop our full library of Base Doodle Patterns too! How to use the Blank Doodle Master Chart: Wondering how to organize your chosen Doodle Charts so you can get started knitting? Our Blank Doodle Master Chart is included in all of our pattern PDFs, but sometimes folks want a little more guidance on how to use it (or just a couple extra copies!). Either way, this post is a great guide to learn a little more about how to use this resource to get your Doodle Charts organized and ready to go! How to use Blank Mini Charts: Are you ready to step into the designer role and draw your own custom Doodle Charts? Our DIY Blank Doodle Mini Charts include empty charts of varying heights, ready for you to add your own creative flair! And because they’re part of the Doodle Framework, these FREE charts are designed to mix-and-match with all your existing Doodle patterns and charts! 3-Step Palette: Looking for some tips & tricks on how to create a yarn color palette? This super simple 3-step guide will show you the easiest way to pull together the perfect palette for your next Doodle Project, so you get a beautiful and cohesive finished knit, every time! Check Contrast with B&W Filter: The designs in stranded colorwork knitting require a higher contrast between yarn colors than you might need in other types of knitting, simply because you need even a single stitch in a different color to be visible. If you want to make sure that all your hard work crafting intricate designs really POPS, there’s one easy way to check contrast before you cast on: using a black & white filter! Doodle Suggestion Box: Do you have an idea for a new chart theme or base pattern shape? Let us know!Jamie would like to thank you so much for inviting her to talk with you all and she hopes that you enjoyed it! If you’d like to learn more, be sure to sign up for the Doodle Newsletter.
