Our June Yarn shop of the month is a two for one! We are excited to partner with The Yarn Cabin in Bemidji. Owner Angie Behr is also a dyer and she creates Purls and Pines yarn. The Yarn Cabin moved to a larger Brick and Mortar location in February. The store is stocked full of all of your knitting favorites like Malabrigo, Berroco, Madelintosh, Emma’s and more, as well as local Minnesota created yarns.
Angie always loved making, she started crocheting in college when her Grandma taught her. After college she taught elementary school and hosted a crochet club. She learned how to knit from a partner in the club 11 years ago. She wrote patterns for crochet and taught many people how to crochet. She started creating YouTube videos to take her teaching to the next level. She retired from teaching, and opened a small shop to take a new direction. She always wanted yarn to be part of what she did and didn’t intend to have a yarn store, but the evolution brought her in that direction.
Angie is an avid yarn enthusiast. In her knitting she loves playing around with different colors, which pulled her into dying which has been an incredibly rewarding experience. She draws inspiration from the world around her – the people, the places, and the things that she encounters. She has been dying yarn for 2 years and several local yarn stores carry her yarn including The Yarnery and Yarn Harbor
Her motto is Hand-Dyed Yarn Made With MINNESOTA Love!
The store hosts a great knitting getaway called Up North Fiber Retreat which will be held again in January 2026.
There are always new classes being offered including Cory from iRock Knits this summer
Stop by the shop on the way up north, or make a special trip to this special place surrounded by lovely scenery and yarn.
