Yarnover is just days away. We are so excited to see all of you, oh & ah over your knitwear, and just have a fun weekend together.
Here are just a few last minute notes to help with your weekend planning…
MAPS – Download maps of the Crowne Plaza and Yarnover Marketplace and get information on parking on the Yarnover Maps page. There is lots of free parking.
MARKETPLACE – The Marketplace is free & open to everyone on Saturday from 9am – 5:30pm. There is no need to register. Check out the list of vendors.
SERVICE KNITTING – Bring any service knitting items you have to donate to Yarnover. You can drop them off Saturday at the Guild table which is on the lower level outside the Scandinavian ballroom. On Sunday, you can bring them to the Guild meeting.
SHAWL CONTEST – Sign up for this year’s Yarnover Shawl Contest and have your shawl photographed at the Friday Opening Party, after dinner, and all day Saturday in the Fireside Lounge just off the hotel lobby. Voting will be online the week after Yarnover.
CLASS HOMEWORK & HANDOUTS – If you are taking a class, please make sure you have downloaded or printed your handouts and done any homework. The homework for most classes is on the class page, except for Kate Atherley’s Holey Grail which was emails to class participants. If you did not receive and email with the links to the handouts, please let Nikky know at membership@knitters.org
SAME DAY REGISTRATION – We do have a limited number of classes that are available for registration on Saturday for $145 each at the Yarnover booth in the hotel lobby. You can find the list of classes here. These classes do not have homework, but they do require supplies. If you plan on registering on Saturday, please make sure to check the supply list. Both Amazing Threads and Northfield Yarn will have knitting needles and notions for these classes in their booths.
WHAT TO BRING – Bring your own water bottle. There will be water stations throughout Yarnover, but to cut down on waste, we will not be providing cups. If you tend to get cold, bring a sweater or light jacket. Hotels and meeting rooms are notoriously chilly.
TOTE BAGS – We will have Yarnover tote bags for sale for $25 at the Yarnover booth in the hotel lobby.
THE GUILD’S RIBBON WINNING CHRISTMAS TREE – We’ll have a tree set up outside the Regency Ballroom showing off the ornaments that helped the Guild win second place at the State Fair this year.
SUNDAY GUILD MEETING – The September MKG meeting is Sunday at the Crowne Plaza in the Regency Ballroom from 10am – 12pm. It is our annual Fair Review, which is always a favorite. Everyone is welcome, Guild member or not. Find our more here. The meeting will also be live streamed on Instagram at 10am CT https://www.instagram.com/mnknitguild
And just a final word, Yarnover is planned and run by a small number of enthusiastic volunteers. They have spent more than a year working to create, what they hope is, a great experience for everyone. We know sometimes there are hiccups or something isn’t to everyone’s expectation, but please remember to be kind and patient and we’ll do our best to fix what we can.
Visit our Yarnover FAQ page for lots more information. If you can’t find an answer there, please contact yarnover@knitters.org. For questions about class registration please contact membership@knitters.org.
