November MKG Meeting
Norwegian Knitting with Maree Hampton
Maree Hampton is a Norwegian Knitting instructor for Vesterheim Museum’s Folk Art School. Maree received a grant from Vesterheim to study Norwegian knitting in Norway in 2024. Vesterheim offers this professional development opportunity to enable practicing folk art instructors to travel to Norway, study, gain inspiration, and develop ideas for future teaching. While in Norway, Maree visited textile and folk art museums, attended a three-day knitting festival in Bergen, toured Norway’s long-standing yarn factories, and met everyday Norwegian knitters in the areas where she traveled. She will share her learning from her month-long trip in Norway, highlighting current trends in Norwegian knitting.
After growing up in the city and suburbs, the owners of Get Bentz Farm felt a need to be closer to nature and to be more connected to where their food came from.
