We are so excited to feature Moki Stitches in Duluth as our April Yarn Store of the Month. Owner Brenna has been knitting and crocheting her whole life, her fiber art also includes spinning. Her love of the craft brought her to designing and working in yarn stores. Her career started in Toronto. After volunteering, working and managing a yarn store she ventured out and started her own. When she transitioned to Duluth she dove into getting to know the fiber community and connecting and working at local yarn stores. Her love of community building and teaching was suited to continue her entrepreneurial spirit and open her own shop again.
Her focus for Moki Stitches is to build a great community to share the love of fiber craft. The store is focused on the Midwest, whether it is sourcing unique fibers, carrying local dyers or featuring local designers. Brenna’s goal is to help people create things that they love and show their passion for their craft. The class schedule is still building, but there will be an equal balance of knitting and crochet classes available. Although Moki Stitches is a small space, Brenna encourages anyone to come, relax and enjoy the crafting space. There are regular stitch nights and themed events.
Once the weather turns lovely and it is great to be outside, there will be Market Days on the 2nd Sunday of the month on the lawn by the store. Come with your project and enjoy trunk shows, local vendors and entertainment. This is a great hang out time and a great stop through if you are heading home from the lake. This truly local experience is a must participate.
Brenna recommends the Loon Sweater pattern featuring Knitting for Olive heavy merino yarn that is carried in the store. This has been a local focused pattern to express your Minnesota pride.

After growing up in the city and suburbs, the owners of Get Bentz Farm felt a need to be closer to nature and to be more connected to where their food came from.
