Fission Knitting is a reversible colorwork technique in which the fabric is worked with two yarns held in a marl. The design elements are slipped stitches placed on both sides of the fabric. The marl is broken apart to work these stitches. The resultant fabric has a marled middle layer and an overlaid design on each side. Creating a different cabled design on each side of the fabric is possible.
In class, you will work a small Fission Knit swatch to learn the most used stitches and cables. The emphasis will be on reading your knitting and applying the 3 Rules of Fission Knitting. You will learn the properties of Fission Knit fabric, why the techniques work, how to manage your yarn and choosing suitable yarn/projects.
Knitters must be comfortable with cables and small circumference knitting. If you are comfortable completing the homework (see below), this class is suitable for you.

Woven Knitting is an innovative knitting technique that uses slipped stitches to replicate woven fabric. In this class, Two Pass Woven Knitting will be taught.
The Woven Knitting technique separates the colorwork from the cabling aspects of the fabric. This allows you to create many different colorwork motifs while following the same cabling instructions. It feels like magic when the design emerges! This workshop will teach the theory that makes this possible.
Two Pass Woven Knitting requires two rows/rounds of knitting to work all the design elements on the needles.
The class project is a small swatch in the round. The homework will familiarize you with the cable motif in one color. In class a second color is added to the swatch and two different motifs are able to be worked at the same time!
