Reducing Risk and Preventing Injuries: A guide to improve quality of knitting from an occupational therapy perspective
Ever struggle with difficulty maintaining a pain free practice? Come and join “Reducing Risk and Preventing Injuries: A guide to improve quality of knitting from an occupational therapy perspective”. Within this seminar, Occupational Therapist, Molly Lynch, will be discussing modifications one can trial implementing into their art to help prevent injury from overuse. Molly will be discussing ways knitters can work with their bodies and joints to alleviate pain from repetitive movements.
Molly Lynch is an occupational therapist from Pennsylvania who was introduced to knitting and the possible problems one can face from her amazing cousin. What is an occupational therapist you may be asking yourself? They are trained medical professionals specially skilled to evaluate the most important tasks someone partakes in throughout the day and help people achieve their goals through individualized plans. How does this relate to knitting? As an occupational therapist, Molly is educated on the smaller movements of our hands, wrists and arms and encouraged to think outside of the box to help people maintain function within.
