Slow Knitting (and current projects) with Hannah Thiessen Howard
In this presentation, Hannah will talk about her path into and through the yarn industry. From learning to knit at a young age to facing the changes that technology has brought to our craft and navigating the changes throughout, Hannah has made a career out of fiber. She’ll talk about the things that led her to write her books, and reveal what’s coming up next in her crafting world, while also touching on the major issues facing our craft today and how we can rise to meet them.

Hannah Thiessen Howard has been working behind the scenes in the fiber industry for nearly two decades with some of your favorite brands: Malabrigo Yarns, Shibui Knits, KnitCrate, Bare Naked Wools, Shalimar Yarns and more. Through it all, her passion and commitment to the people who make and use fibers and fabrics has remained steady, and is showcased clearly in two books: Slow Knitting and Seasonal Slow Knitting. In 2022, Hannah took the helm as the new Editor of By Hand Serial, an independent magazine dedicated to telling the stories of makers and the places they call home. Visit studios, hear their stories, and explore their cities and countryside through the pages of this beautiful publication.
