Come and share the joy of the season as we bring treats (both savory and sweet), bid on each others stash, and raise money for our service committee. So edit your stash a little (or a lot!) then please bring some amazing yarn, needles, tools and patterns for donation in our silent auction. Get ready to bid, laugh, eat, knit and give 2015 a great Knitters' Guild send-off.
December Northern Lights Meeting View Details
We welcome Vision Loss Resources in the new year. A brief explanation of the organization and the services offered will be presented, followed by knitters from the program. The knitters will share examples of their knitting and discuss what it like to knit when blind.
Raise your pinkies and purl two! Our annual tradition continues: the February meeting gets whisked over to a civilized hour on Sunday afternoon, and we gather for some tea* and scones and social time and sharing. This is a great opportunity for those who live a little further afield—or for whom weeknight meetings aren’t possible—to join us in person. There’s no formal programming at the February tea other than a few announcements (and door prizes, of course). Bring a project or two, meet some new folks and keep those pinkies high!
* There will also be coffee. We are Minnesotans, after all.
During the meeting we will start the great Minnesota yarn-ends challenge. Be sure to bring a few odds and ends to exchange.
The great Minnesota yarn-ends challenge
You know that bin you have? The one with the last five yards of that amazing sock yarn and the small leftover ball of hot pink bulky alpaca? It’s time to dig those bad boys out and bring it to the February guild meeting. We will sort yarns onto tables by color, so you can transform your mismatched mess into a bin of inspiration. To sweeten the pot, use the bits you take away at the end of the evening to create something fabulous, bring it to the May meeting to share, and you could win a prize!
Here are the rules:
Bring as much as you want.
Take away as much as you bring.
This is really meant for odds-n-ends … this is not your chance to off-load full skeins … save those for the December silent auction.
Create absolutely anything you want … from a coaster to a coat … but it must use primarily yarn from the swap.
We’re not going to tell anyone what to make, or how to work with their box of inspiration.
Get the most out of your love of knitting! Membership benefits include pre-registration for Yarnover, a subscription to our quarterly Cable Gram, organized public service projects and camaraderie with fellow knitters. Annual dues are $30.
