DESCRIPTION:The Marriage of Yarn and Pattern with Alison Green\nDuring her eleven years as a designer for Berroco Yarns, Alison had the opportunity to design projects tailored to a diverse collection of yarns, aimed at reaching a lot of different kinds of knitters. In this presentation, she will go into what kinds of considerations were at play, how the characteristics of different yarns informed her work, and how she approached the question of “What does this yarn want to be?” She will also discuss how she chooses yarns for her current work as an independent designer, and how knitters can successfully select yarns that will best suit their pattern, or find the perfect pattern to show off a specific yarn.\nBio:\nAlison Green is a knit and crochet designer, teacher, and technical editor who has been immersed in the yarn world since the early 2000s. She spent eleven years on the design team at Berroco yarns, including over two years as design director, where she helped guide the creative vision for the brand. She is passionate about elevating craft through traditional techniques presented with a modern sensibility and executed with meticulous attention to detail.
